Monkeys, Hanuman and Deer were there. Among the reptiles, oysters and crocodiles were the main.
The first official decision was made in establishing a modern zoo in Dhaka in 1950. A zoo and plant gardens were announced on the outskirts of Dhaka through a notification issued by the Agriculture, Cooperation and Relief Division. The proposal was finally finalized on December 26 of that year. Then, without any kind of effort to set up the zoo, it crossed a decade. On 11 March 1961 an Advisory Council was announced on the basis of a notification of the Department of Food and Agriculture.
